Golden Circle Superjeep day tour from Reykjavik including lunch & your choice of Rafting, Snowmobile Safari, Snorkelling at Silfra, Caving in Thingvellir National Park or ATV (Quad Biking) Safari. Trip level: easy Departures: daily from Reykjavik (see under each tour description) Duration: 9-11 hours
The Golden Circle is Iceland´s most famous sightseeing route, taking in a trio of natural wonders: Thingvellir National Park, the Geysir Hot Springs and Gullfoss Waterfall.
Now you can visit these amazing places in comfort and style on a highland Superjeep Excursion. To make your day even more of an adventure, you can choose to include an optional activity. What also makes this 4 x 4 trip different from a standard Golden Circle coach tour is the personalised service of your expert driver-guide and the adventurous back-country route you'll take to travel between the sights. It can be a little bumpy at times, but that's all part of the fun.
A self drive version
of this tour is also available. SUPERJEEPS
Superjeeps are something of an Icelandic obsession – they're specially modified four-wheel drive vehicles, with huge tyres and extra ground clearance, equipped with all the latest gadgetry. This means they go places that other cars can only dream of! The superjeeps come with a driver-guide and seat 5-12 persons so a safari is always a small group experience. THE GOLDEN CIRCLE SAFARI
Your driver will pick you up at your hotel, then you'll head east from Reykjavík to Thingvellir National Park. From a breathtaking viewpoint you can witness how tectonic rifting forces the European and North American continental plates slowly apart. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Thingvellir is also a place of great historic and cultural importance – the Althing parliament was founded here in 930.
Now the excitement begins as your driver skillfully negotiates the rugged trail between the picturesque shield volcano Skjaldbreidur and Iceland's second biggest glacier, Langjokull. Two adventurous hours and several river crossings later you'll rejoin the road above Gullfoss Falls. After a short stop and a light lunch (included) at this spectacular waterfall you'll continue to the Geysir hot springs, 10 km down the road. At Geysir you'll stroll among the colourful geothermal pools and see the geyser Strokkur erupt every few minutes, surely one of the highlights of any visit to Iceland. CHOICE OF ACTIVITY
Of course this exciting Golden Circle Superjeep Safari is an adventure in itself, but you can choose to include one of 5 different activities to make the day even more exciting. you can also join the Golden Circle Superjeep tour without an activity: 29.990 ISK per person.
