Rafting the Hvítá River (pronounced Kveetau) began almost 25 years ago and it has consistently been the most popular adventure activity in Iceland. The Hvítá is a beautiful river, just over an hour's drive from Reykjavík. This glacial river is felt by meltwater from the Langjokull Glacier, Iceland's second largest. The river has a perfectly balanced mix of serene canyons and adrenaline pumping waves and rapids. Whether you're looking for a fun-filled excursion to share with friends or a family day out, paddling the Hvita will have you grinning ear to ear.

You'll transfer from Reykjavik and arriving at the Drumbó basecamp get kittted out with the right gear for the rafting. After a safety briefing and practice session it's paddles to the water as you head for the rapids. This exhilarating 7 km ride through the Hvita Gorge is a fun-filled mix of whitewater rapids and waves and quieter stretches, where you can sit back and enjoy the dramatic scenery as you drift by the walls of the gorge. After squeezing through the narrows of Bruarhlod, where the canyon is at its most dramatic, there's the option to do a cliff jump. This is for those who want even more of a challenge! At the end of the rafting there's a welcome hot tub or sauna, followed by soup and bread before the journey back to Reykjavik.

Price includes: transportation from Reykjavík, river rafting on Hvíta river, soup, sauna & hot tub. Optional: canoeing on Hvita instead of rafting at a supplement.
Age limit: 12 years. Children aged 10 and 11 can join the trip on the quieter half of the river.
Minimum number: 15 May-15 September: 2 persons; at other times: 4 persons.
Please bring with you: warm sweater, a complete change of clothing, bathing suit and a towel. Prepare to get wet. Only waterproof cameras are suitable.
Special skills: no special skills or previous experience of rafting is required.
Optional lunch buffet: the Drumbó basecamp serves a lunch buffet from Monday to Saturday 12:00-13:45. So if you have your own car you can have lunch there before your rafting trip. Price: 1.390 ISK per person (must be pre booked)
