Thingvellir National Park is a 40 minute drive from Reykjavik. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it's a place of extreme natural beauty where Iceland's Althing parliament was founded in the year 930. It's also a magnet for geologists, who come to study the tectonic rifts dividing the continental plates of America and Europe. Silfra fissure, a gaping split in the lava bed, is one of them. Deep and brooding, it's an irresisible lure to divers and fast gaining recognition as a world-class diving site. THE DIVING
This trip includes two dives in Silfra ravine, at a depth of 10 to 30 metres. What makes diving at Silfra so unusual is the crystal clear water, which has been slowly filtered through layers of basalt resulting in an unworldly transparency. The underwater visibility is truly astonishing at this amazing dive site and is only limited by the density of the water itself. You'll gently drift with the current as you explore the lava walls of the rift, marvelling at the ethereal quality of the light and myriad shades of blue and turquoise. TRIP NOTES Price includes:

Do you have your own transport? If you have your own transport the meeting time is 10:00 at the Thingvellir service centre/campsite. From 20th of November to 20th of January the meeting time at Thingvellir is 11:00.
