Offering a showcase of natural wonders, the Golden Circle Tour is the flagship day excursion from Reykjavik. Now you can see all the famous sites and include an unforgettable rafting trip on the Hvita River. The Golden Grand Slam has it all; stunning natural beauty, interesting history, amazing geological wonders and a great rafting adventure! This is a small-group tour, using a mini-van with driver-guide. THE GOLDEN CIRCLE
Head east from Reykjavík to Thingvellir National Park. From a viewpoint, witness how rifting forces the European and North American continental plates slowly apart. Take a stroll through this UNESCO World Heritage Site, where Iceland's Althing parliament was founded in the year 930.
After a scenic drive, you'll arrive at the geothermal area of Geysir, where the geyser Strokkur erupts every few minutes, spouting a column of water and steam high into the air. Many other gurgling and bubbling hot springs, including the beautiful blue pools, make this a favourite with photographers. Next up is Gullfoss, the undisputed queen of Icelandic waterfalls. It's an amazing sight as it thunders into a misty gorge with power and grandeur. THE RAFTING
Next stop is Drumbó basecamp where after a light lunch, it's time to get kitted out for the rafting. After a safety briefing and practice session it's paddles to the water as you head for the rapids. This 7 km paddle down the Hvita Gorge offers a great mix of whitewater rapids and waves and quieter stretches, where you can sit back and enjoy the dramatic scenery. There's also the option to do a cliff jump for those who like a vertical challenge! At the end of the rafting there's a hot shower and sauna before the journey back to Reykjavík.
